1.1 Our Boundaries of Accountability
- 1.1.1 Standard Liability Stipulations:
- 1.1.1a: We take responsibility only if there’s undeniable evidence of our movers causing damage or loss due to grave negligence.
- 1.1.1b: If our serious oversight causes harm or loss, be aware: we’re exempt from the first £250 of any claim. Beyond this, our liability tops out at £100,000.
- 1.1.1c: Damaged an item? We’ll restore the specific damaged section. Not the whole item.
- 1.1.1d: Per item, our liability goes up to £500.00. Pricey items (above £500.00) require prior notice. Otherwise, claims might be declined.
- 1.1.2 Exclusions: We won’t cover additional damages or emotional distress. However, upon request and an additional fee, our liability can stretch up to £150,000, given that all pre-conditions are met. For a complete list of exclusions, please see Section 2.
- 1.1.3 Packing work: We won’t cover any item packed by anyone other than M25’s team. We recommend all our clients to use M25 packing service, especially on large moves and valuable items.
- 1.1.4 Altering Our Liability: We’re reasonable. While this isn’t an insurance policy, do insure your goods during transit. It’s also smart to share this contract with your insurance provider.
1.2 Breaking Down the Term ‘Item’
- 1.3.1: An ‘item’ can be anything inside containers like boxes.
- 1.3.2: It also refers to any distinct object we handle during our service.
1.3 Emotional Distress
We recognise that moving isn’t just about transferring physical items from one location to another; it’s about transitioning between chapters of your life. The process can sometimes unearth a myriad of emotions, from excitement and anticipation to stress and nostalgia. We understand that we often come in at the tail end of your moving experience, and sometimes accumulated stress can culminate when we arrive. We’re here to assist you and make the process smoother. Taking a short moment to assess your emotions can lead to a more constructive and harmonious experience for all involved.
1.4 The Precious Bits: We’re talking about jewellery, watches, precious stones or metals, money, deeds, securities, bonds, tickets, stamps, coins, or any collections of a similar kind. What about them? We like to treat those items with extra special care by not moving them at all! And let’s not forget about those indispensable gadgets like tablets, laptops, or mobile phones and their electronic buddies. Yes, them too. For these treasures, we hand the packing and moving reins over to you. It’s your chance to give them the VIP treatment they deserve on moving day.
1.5 International Moves: A Different Ball Game
- 1.2.1 Our International Responsibility: If your goods are crossing UK shores, we’re liable for damages only if they result from our severe negligence. But 8.1.1 & 8.1.2’s rules still apply.
- 1.2.2 Partnering with Third-Party Carriers: If we hire international movers on your behalf, their rules and policies come into play.
- 1.2.3 Sea and Air Concerns: Unexpected events can lead to extra charges or route diversions. Insuring against marine/transit issues is a prudent choice.
- 1.2.4 Government Interactions: Damages or losses due to customs or government actions aren’t on us unless we’ve been neglectful.
In a Nutshell:
Moving is stressful, and sometimes accidents happen. But we’re here to make it right within the boundaries set in this agreement. Always consider additional insurance to safeguard your belongings further.
